Chart House Bed And Breakfast

The gardens were lovely to look at, even in winter, and the room was peaceful and fantastic. The bathroom was extremely clean, with a lovely hot shower. Jill is so welcoming, always smiling, and a lovely person. I’d highly recommend staying at Chart House in Dorking.

It’s a quick walk to Dorking high street, but the grounds themselves are quiet, with spectacular scenery, alpacas and chickens. Jill is thoughtful and lovely, and the accommodation was comfortable and very clean. I’d definitely recommend it!

The room was tiny and filthy, and the place is dated. The little 10-inch TV hidden in the cupboard didn’t work. A security light kept clicking on and off all night, shining brightly through the window. The bathroom facilities are shared, and guests going back and forth all evening and night made it impossible to sleep. You also have to get fully dressed to use them in the night. I felt unwelcome from the start. I arrived within the time slot I’d given, but the owner said she was disappointed my phone had only rung because she was waiting to go out, and I was delaying her. The greeting was the most unprofessional I’ve had at any accommodation. I was put in a front room and nobody took time to show me the facilities. For the price, I’d say the local Travelodge is a better choice. At least you get a clean room and a bathroom you can use at night without getting fully dressed.

The garden is beautiful, the house is gorgeous, and the alpacas are really cool. It’s a perfect spot, with a short walk into town and about 20 minutes on foot to the Surrey Hills. Great service overall.
