Heathers Woodlands

The English breakfast was a lovely start before crossing the channel. We were heading from Dover to Calais by ferry and wanted somewhere closer than London, so we found Heather's Woodlands. The stay was very pleasant, and the room was clean and comfortable. There's a restaurant nearby for dinner.

We only wish we'd stayed longer. Heather's was a lovely place to spend our last night in the English countryside in Dover, with a spacious, clean room and excellent English hospitality. Parking was easy and off street, and breakfast was large and tasty.

Breakfast was fantastic, especially Heather's full English, and there was also scrambled egg on toast, several kinds of cereal, toast, marmalade, fresh fruit and yoghurt. What a lovely couple. Barry had even left a selection of biscuits when we arrived, and we had a great night's sleep in a clean, very comfortable room. My husband Eddie and I stayed for one night on our way back to The Netherlands. We were given a great welcome, and Heather was very friendly. We'd definitely stay again and recommend it. If you're using sat nav, put “river” in the address as well as the postcode. The postcode on its own takes you to a row of shops nearer the centre. If you end up there, keep going straight down the road, pass two sets of traffic lights, then go up the hill. The B&B is on the left.

A very welcoming place, really clean, with excellent food. Five stars hardly seems enough.
