We’ve eaten at Taypark House Hotel several times, for lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, and have always enjoyed it. This visit was for a steak dinner deal through Itison. The restaurant has a varied food and drinks menu, with Scottish produce and plenty to choose from. My friend had Cullen Skink to start, then we both had steak and sides, and I had the toffee pudding. The food was good, though my steak had quite a bit of gristle that I left. The part I ate was delicious and cooked how I like it, and dessert was lovely. It’s a relaxed dining room looking out over mature gardens, and we got a friendly, helpful welcome. Our server was polite and gave us time to look at the menu for options beyond the deal. The hotel is set back from Perth Road among lovely trees and well kept gardens, with ample parking and disabled access and parking. There’s also a children’s play area opposite, which is a nice addition for families. One small suggestion: the table water was a bit warm, so it might be handy to have ice cubes in a little dish for people to add to their glasses.

We celebrated my birthday at Taypark House, and it felt like a special place for the occasion. We sat in one of the domes, which was cosy, beautifully lit and had its own heater. The whole place looked stunning at night, and the indoor space was elegant too. We had fish and chips and a burger, and both were really good. The service was attentive and friendly, and the setting and views would suit a date night or a small event as well. I can imagine it’s especially beautiful at sunset. Definitely recommend if you want somewhere pretty with a lovely atmosphere in Dundee.

The staff were lovely and very attentive, and the surroundings and location made for a lively setting. We had a three course lunch, with a very good choice of dishes, and every course was excellent and just as good as the others. I’d highly recommend it.

I used an Itison voucher for lunch and really enjoyed it. The food was excellent, nicely cooked and presented, and the service was spot on. They have different options for eating during the day and in the evening, which are worth trying. I’ll certainly be back.

We went to Taypark House for a meal on Sunday 5th March, but wouldn’t return. Even though the dining room was mostly empty, our table wasn’t ready when we arrived early and asked to be seated. We waited in the gin bar, but nobody let us know when it was ready, so we had to go through and check. Once seated, we found out they were out of two of the four starters and two of the four desserts. The only main available was risotto, which neither of us likes. The toilets also smelled of sewage.
