Spread Eagle Inn

Our dog was welcomed in the main bar, which was a big plus. We stopped at The Spread Eagle Inn for lunch while visiting Stourhead, and really enjoyed it. The portions were generous, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was lovely. The staff were friendly and attentive. We’ll make this a regular stop on future visits to Stourhead.

Managed to get a table even though it was a busy day, and the prices were reasonable. There were plenty of vegan options, and the food was exceptional. I had lovely tomato soup and sweet potato tart. I’d accidentally ordered from the weekday menu instead of the separate Sunday menu, but they kindly sorted it out for me. Service was pleasant and very efficient, with sweet, capable serving staff and an accomplished chef. The place was just lovely. I’d only suggest repainting the walls in a more modern colour.

The pub food was good, well cooked, and served promptly. We all enjoyed lunch with friends. Stourhead and the restaurant were busy that day, but the staff stayed welcoming and efficient. I’ll certainly go again.

The sticky toffee pudding was especially tasty, and the Sunday roast was delicious. We got there early and managed to grab one of the walk-in tables before 12. Great service too!
