The owners are nice, and the B&B is well placed on the edge of the town centre. There’s a garage and shop right nearby, plus a pub around the corner. They’re happy for you to move a table and two chairs so you can use the pub’s dartboard. The room is spacious, though it doesn’t have an en suite. They provide a great bathrobe for going to and from the bath or shower. Breakfast is excellent, with a big pot of tea.

The owners are friendly, and there’s a splendid breakfast to get the day started. It’s a basic place, but very comfortable. The bathroom is shared, which may not suit everybody, though it’s peaceful and quiet.

Room 7 looked out over the Clyde in the morning, a beautiful view that’s hard to overstate. Rooms 1 and 9 have it too. The shower was outstanding, with proper high pressure that left me feeling as if six layers of dirt had come off instead of just one. I was welcomed warmly on arrival and shown around. The facilities were good and everything was clean. Breakfast was a highlight: a proper cooked choice without the usual six fluid ounces of grease, plus a traditional spread of marmalades and jams and a generous amount of toast. The next day I met Hennie, who was lovely and asked if I needed anything. It was a restful, pleasant stay in a lovely setting, with fantastic hosts. The place has little quirks and character, and you can see how much the owners care. Some people might find the accommodation simple, but the care is what makes it special. I came in cold after a long afternoon outside and wanted an extra blanket. One was already there. When the owners noticed I’d used it while cleaning the room, they put the heating on during the evenings that followed. It might sound like a small thing, but noticing details like that made my stay much more comfortable. I’d definitely come back and recommend it to others.

The hosts were charming and made us feel very welcome. Good value, and handy for cyclists. They were flexible about what we needed, and I’d happily stay again.

Everyone was friendly and helpful, and breakfast was excellent. Our room was comfortable and had a fantastic sea view. We had a fabulous stay and will definitely be back later this year. Thank you!
