The Christmas decorations made the place feel lovely, and the bed and bathroom were spacious and incredibly clean. I felt at home. There’s a big kitchen and some entertainment, though I didn’t use them. I had trouble finding the place, but after I called, help came straight away. Follow the provided map carefully, as it’s more accurate than the Google navigator. I’d definitely choose it again when I’m in Durham.

This was our fourth visit, and I’ll definitely stay again. The rooms and ensuites are spacious and spotless, and there are two guest kitchens, laundry facilities, plus a lounge with a TV, pool table and football table. It’s really good value and, for visiting Durham, the best place to stay. I’m almost reluctant to say so because good reviews mean more demand and less availability, but it’s only fair to share.

The shared kitchen was fantastic and empty when we used it. The place was spotless, with a comfortable bed, pillows and duvet. Check-in was easy, and the directions made it easy to find when followed carefully. We’d highly recommend it and would stay again if we’re up in Durham.

Room 8 was huge, almost like a penthouse suite, with three beds, an ensuite and a balcony. I booked two rooms for me and my sons while helping them move from college accommodation into a private rental, then to enjoy a weekend in Durham. The location was perfect, just a very short drive into town. We didn’t make as much use of the kitchen and lounge as we could have, but both looked impressive.

The shower had great pressure and plenty of hot water, and the enormous bathroom had both a bath and shower. The towels were fresh, bedding crisp and clean, and the beds comfortable. Our room was clean and big enough for three. We stayed three nights while helping our son move into his new house. We didn’t use the kitchen or communal lounge, but the kitchen seemed to have everything. It was really good accommodation, with a few hillwalkers staying there too, so I called it a posh hostel. It was a bit hard to find off the main road, and the No Entry signs on the gate made us hesitate. They could be bigger. Highly recommended.
