Durham Riverside Apartments

The river view is beautiful, and the location worked perfectly for us. Inside, everything was very clean, spacious and comfortable, with plenty of storage, quality appliances and all the modern conveniences. The hosts were friendly and welcoming, and shared lots of useful local knowledge. They’d left a big folder of printed information about shops, pubs and attractions, and explained the facilities clearly without hovering. The welcome treats were generous and thoughtfully chosen.

We came for our 10th wedding anniversary, and the owners’ hospitality and elegant taste made the stay feel special. The beds were the most comfortable we had in England, and the rooms were spacious. From the veranda, we watched ducks land on the water and student teams pass in their boats. It’s a perfect spot on the River Wear, just a few minutes’ walk from Durham Castle and Cathedral, with strong water pressure and plenty of hot water. We highly recommend it.

The terrace has fabulous river views, and the apartment itself is gorgeous and really comfortable. Chris and Wendy gave us a fantastic welcome, and the secure parking was easy to access. They’d put so much care into the details, especially the welcome pack, the best we’ve seen in a property and enough for at least one breakfast, maybe more. We’ll be back.

We spent four nights at the Durham Riverside apartments and really enjoyed it. The balcony overlooking the river was a lovely spot to watch the ducks and rowers. Wendy and Chris were wonderful hosts, helpful and quick to respond, and the apartment was beautifully presented with everything we needed. We’d definitely recommend staying here.
