The room was dark, with just one window opening onto the walkway used by guests heading to other rooms, and it had an aroma about it. Conversations from nearby rooms carried through clearly. There was no Wi-Fi in our room, though it worked as soon as we reached the main entrance; I was told there was a remote pick-up, but I’m not sure where. The shower room floor was very slippery and my wife fell. Breakfast was self-service because the place was apparently heavily booked and short-staffed. Parking was limited when busy.

It’s a lovely, remote spot, with a gorgeous old coach house and clean rooms in a pretty courtyard. The staff were so lovely, and there’s a cosy little pub and restaurant too. The menu is small, though it’s off season at the moment and the hotel was very quiet. Breakfast was delicious, and the staff were just adorable.

The hotel was clean and cute, and the decor made it feel welcoming. Our veggie breakfast was gorgeous and the service was great. The staff were really lovely and always happy to chat. We absolutely loved our night at the East Ayton hotel and would definitely return.

We came for Sunday roast and the food was delicious, with generous portions of both dinner and cake. Two courses cost £20, which felt like great value, and children eat free. They really don’t skimp on the servings. Amazing food and value, we’ll be back for another Sunday roast.

Our children treated us to a stay at the Lodge for our wedding anniversary, and we were very impressed. Lottie looked after us so well in the evening, and nothing seemed too much trouble for her. Lynne was just as helpful the next morning. Despite the awful weather, we had a lovely stay and would visit again. Many thanks to everyone at the Lodge. Best regards, Les and Angie Hull 👍
