Cathy and Lynn made me feel very welcome and were incredibly helpful, sharing a city map and details about the main sights, buses and routes. Cathy arranged a taxi for 6:15 AM on my departure day so I could make my early flight. Uber isn't reliable here. Amaryllis Guest House is a Georgian townhouse with a lovely entrance hall and a beautiful balustraded staircase to the second and third floors. It has modern updates without losing the charm of the old house. Everything was spotless, warm and homely, and the rooms are private with no traffic noise. I had a cozy single room with an en-suite, a great shower and a wall-mounted flat-screen TV. The window looked onto a small, lovely back garden with hydrangea bushes. There's no breakfast, but you can make tea or coffee with the kettle any time, and there's fresh fruit and biscuits. I look forward to staying again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Edinburgh.

Cathy, the owner, was quick to answer questions and greeted me at the door with a map and useful tips for getting into town and travelling around. The guesthouse is peaceful, and I hardly saw anyone coming and going. It's about a 15-minute walk to the heart of the Old Town, with nearby buses and easy access to taxis and Ubers. I usually stay in chain hotels or Airbnbs, and hadn't been in a guesthouse for ages, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I ended up delighted. My small single room had its own en-suite and was plenty big enough for one, especially since I was out during the day. The room was spotlessly clean, the bathroom modern, and the shower excellent. The bed was made fresh each day, with a kettle, tea and coffee, biscuits and fruit in the room. There was a TV for the evening, and the bed was very comfortable. I slept peacefully for all three nights. I can thoroughly recommend this guesthouse for a trip to Edinburgh.

Being close to the local sights made getting around easy. The room was spotless, and the staff were so welcoming and helpful. I had a delightful stay at Amaryllis Guest House and would happily come back.

Breakfast was good and the location central, but the rooms felt pokey in this old house. We ended up in the loft, which was a shame. The bathroom was tiny, and the TV was just a PC monitor.

The price was good for somewhere so close to where I needed to be. It was only a few minutes' walk from the centre, and the room was cosy. The bathroom was small and outside the room, but that didn't bother me. Service was good too. Tell them what you want the night before and breakfast comes out pretty quickly in the morning.
