Black Ivy Hotel

We stayed at Black Ivy for two nights with our two dogs and felt comfortable there the whole time. The staff member who greeted us was warm and showed us to a fantastic, spacious room with a huge bed and a wonderful bathroom. We ate at the restaurant both nights, and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. The dogs were welcome too, and even got a bowl of sausages. The staff were very attentive. We'd highly recommend Black Ivy and hope to return.

We spent five nights at Black Ivy, in a Park view room above the outdoor terrace. It was cozy and clean, and although on the small side, it was enough for us since we didn't spend much time in the room. The bed was great, not too firm. A note on the noise: yes, the hotel and rooms can sometimes be noisy. That is clearly mentioned on the hotel website, including the weekly DJ sets that run until 1am, so I don't really understand the bad reviews complaining about it. Black Ivy is a boutique hotel with a wonderful bar and restaurant. The lift to the rooms is a great addition, especially with heavy luggage. Check-in and check-out were easy, and the staff even booked us a cab on our last day. Thanks again for that! We loved the food, from breakfast to dinner, and especially the fantastic Sunday roast. The bar has a nice range of teas, beers, whiskies, and gins, and the cocktails are wonderful too. The decor, with flowers, wood, and dim lighting, gives the place a romantic, intimate feel that sets it apart. Black Ivy is in Bruntsfield, a little over a 20-minute walk from Princes Street. There are lovely parks and a small golf course around, and buses to the city and the Pentland are not far away. Thanks to the whole staff for making both our trips wonderful. We'll be back.

We felt so well looked after and welcome throughout our stay at Black Ivy. The team were exceptionally friendly, capable, helpful, and genuinely themselves. I've rarely come across hotel staff like that. Our room was very spacious, thoughtfully and stylishly furnished, and looked out over the park. The beds were extremely comfortable. The restaurant and bar are beautifully decorated too, and immediately felt welcoming. We loved the fantastic breakfast and enjoyed dinner as well.

We arrived on Friday and managed to park for free outside the hotel, since there was no charge after 5:30pm. The staff were attentive and friendly, and our beautiful, clean room had a lovely park view and a very comfortable bed. We could hear the DJ downstairs, but it didn't bother us. It was a 15-20 minute Uber ride to the centre, or a 25-minute walk. A 10/10 stay, and I'd definitely recommend it.
