Well Court in Edinburgh's Dean Village is a lovely place to wander for its architecture and history. The residential complex dates to 1889 and is associated with Colin McWilliam, or possibly the original architect James Milne. Its red brick buildings, detailed stonework and communal courtyards show off Arts and Crafts architecture. The quiet atmosphere, quaint gardens and picturesque setting beside the Water of Leith make it feel like stepping back in time. It's an often-overlooked spot for photography and a peaceful explore. Go during daylight to appreciate the buildings and gardens, and wear comfortable shoes for Dean Village's cobbled paths. You can walk there from Princes Street or take local buses toward Dean Bridge or Queensferry Road. A lovely scenic corner of historic Edinburgh for architecture fans.

You can't go inside Well Court because it's residential, but it's lovely to wander the pretty streets and take a photo from the bridge if it isn't too crowded. The architecture gives the place a charming, almost fairytale feel, like its own little world in Edinburgh. It's a beautiful stop and a nice detour on the way to the Modern One museum.

The architecture is beautiful, and it's a lovely place to visit for a walk along the river. I'd go on a sunny day for better photos.

Loved walking through Dean Village, with its rivers, gorgeous buildings and lovely atmosphere.

Well Court has a lovely story behind it. Sir John Findlay, who owned The Scotsman newspaper at the time, had it built in the 1880s after buying land in Dean Village to house workers. It’s a picturesque building, though it’s private now and doesn’t seem to welcome or encourage tourists.
