We left at 10pm and drove home for over four hours, getting in around 2:15am, because the bedding was so filthy. The sheet wouldn’t stay on, and when I tried to remake the bed I found several urine stains on the mattress protector. The pillows were completely yellow, and the duvet cover had spots of blood. We didn’t stay the night. I contacted the hotel to ask for a refund, since clean, fresh bedding seems like a basic requirement, but they said they wouldn’t refund us because we hadn’t called at 10pm to give them a chance to fix it. There was also a note saying they’d charge a flat £200 if we left the “kitchen,” just a microwave and fridge, messy. Earlier, check-in was meant to be at 3pm, but I had to call at 3:10 for the building and room codes. The room was tiny, damaged all over, and the bed creaked if you looked at it funny. We dropped our bags and went to explore Edinburgh, then came back around 9. Terrible from start to finish. One star only because I can’t give negative stars.

There was a place to leave our luggage at reception after checkout, which was handy. The rooms, though, were in pretty worn condition, and it seems like they may once have been nice. The bed linen was dirty, so we had to change it ourselves. The windows wouldn’t open properly, so we couldn’t get fresh air, and the cleaning wasn’t very good either. For what we got, it was definitely too expensive.

The location was good, but I wouldn’t call this value for money. At £100, the room felt more like a £50 stay, with dated decor that needs refreshing. Check-in was unpleasant and complicated, involving three different codes, and the spare sofa bed hadn’t been made up when we arrived. The sheets and pillows didn’t seem clean, and there was mould around the shower beading, as shown in the photos. They took a £100 deposit about ten days before arrival, and after checkout I had to chase twice to get it back. Not a terrible stay, but definitely not worth the price.

The bedding was a shock. We opened the wardrobe and found duvets marked with blood and urine. Children and adults stay there too, so this really wasn’t acceptable. The coffee table was damaged, the pillows were uncomfortable, and the sofa bed was very worn. Every spring felt like a knife stabbing into your body. The bed mattress was worn out as well, and we woke up aching instead of rested. Getting into the apartment took a lot of effort. With all our luggage and a two-year-old, we had to check in by phone because nobody was at reception. It took ten calls to get the door codes.

The place was clean and the location was fine, but that was about it. The bed and pillows weren’t comfortable, and there was noise everywhere, at all times. One night it carried on very loudly until the early hours. It got so bad we called the on-call reception, who said there wasn’t much they could do and suggested we knock on the door ourselves. We weren’t impressed. If we’d been staying longer than a couple of nights in Edinburgh, we’d have checked out after the first night and gone elsewhere. I’d advise looking through the growing pile of negative reviews before booking.
