Edinburgh was incredible, and this B&B made our Bank Holiday weekend with my boyfriend even better. Catherine and Stuart were lovely hosts, very polite and considerate.

The breakfast was a highlight, especially the full Scottish spread with haggis, which I’d been keen to try as an American. Stuart and Catherine happily answered all my questions about Edinburgh and Scotland’s history, and were warm and welcoming. Bonnie, their westie, was adorable too. We stayed one night in May 2015. The house was clean and comfortable, and Glendevon B&B is about a ten-minute drive from the Royal Mile, close to many of Edinburgh’s tourist sights. We loved Scotland and would stay here again on another visit.

Breakfast was delicious, with plenty of choice, and my first taste of haggis was a hit. Our room was roomy, cosy and quiet. Catherine and Stuart were so friendly and welcoming, and we really enjoyed chatting with them.

With just three rooms for two guests each, the B&B feels small and well cared for. One room has an ensuite; the other two have their own private bathrooms separately. The building retains many original features, and Catherine and Stuart are helpful, friendly hosts. Breakfast was good, too. It’s between Edinburgh and Leith, with a bus route just around the corner and plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants nearby. Great value, and I’d definitely recommend it.

The park on Pilrig Street and the surrounding area made for lovely walks, and the bus stop is at the end of the crescent if you don’t fancy walking into town. We stayed at Glendevon in mid-September 2017, and it was the best B&B we’ve ever tried. Stuart and Catherine looked after us so well. Their home is fantastic, and Catherine made me yummy poached eggs for breakfast. Thanks to both of you. We’ll be back. Tracy and Bryan Hensley, New Zealand.
