I had a lovely two-night stay as an early birthday treat, in Editors 1. The apartment was spacious and clean, with a well-equipped kitchen, a central spot beside the Royal Mile, and secure entry for both the building and apartment. There was some noise from ongoing construction work at Northbridge, but that can't be helped. Luggage storage was available too. I'd stay again.

The building is lovely and has been restored beautifully, but that stopped mattering once we got back from walking around Edinburgh in January. We were sitting in bed under the blankets fully dressed on a Saturday afternoon because the apartment was freezing. The living room radiators never worked during our two days there, and we couldn't control the heating. We tried anyway, without success. There were stickers on the thermostats telling guests not to adjust them, and our booking email said the same. A later reply also told us to download an app to use the heating. The owners have since denied sending those messages. They said an onsite team could help, but we saw no staff at all during our stay, and there's no reception. When we raised the problems, the responses felt defensive and shifted the blame back to us. The bathroom is nicely done, but its timer sensors switch off the lights. Twice we were left in complete darkness while showering in a windowless room with no other light. The owners say they weren't aware of this, though another Trip Advisor review mentions it too. Guests shouldn't have to chase up heating in mid-January. The building has so much potential, but the way the owners handle valid feedback is aggressive and dismissive. We would likely have returned, but their denials and refusal to take responsibility have put us off.

We stayed in the first-floor Editors apartment and loved it. It was spacious, spotless, tastefully decorated and practical, with a big bedroom, a well-equipped kitchen, strong shower, thick towels and lovely toiletries. Despite being right in the centre by the Royal Mile, there was no street noise. There's no reception, so you don't meet anyone in person, but the email communication was clear and efficient. We didn't feel a desk or staff member was needed. A perfect base for exploring Edinburgh, and we'd happily return.

The room was great, and the kitchen had everything, though we only used the fridge and coffee maker. There was both a regular coffee maker and a Nespresso, plus a washer and detergent pods, which came in handy. The only drawback was the walk from the airport bus stop, about 14 minutes.

We were in Unit 14, and the two flights of stairs had been clearly disclosed. The views were lovely, and it was easy to get to Edinburgh Castle, the shops, restaurants and Waverly Train Station. A tip for arriving by train: leave Waverly Train Station at Princes Street and use the pedestrian bridge to reach the Lofts. We took the Market Street exit because we didn't know which way to go, and had a strenuous climb up several outdoor staircases.
