We were four, two couples, staying one night, and it was brilliant. The whole place was immaculate. The bedroom was lovely and spacious, and the sofa bed in the living room worked perfectly. I was wary about noise because it was a Friday during the Fringe and the apartment is above a bar, but it was very quiet and we never heard a thing. We could check out at 11am without a charge, which was much appreciated. We'll be back. For a late-night bite, try the Italian restaurant across the road, a little way up towards George St. What a place.

The management was unresponsive and refused any compensation, which was frustrating given what we paid and the problems we had. The apartment was noisy every night, with live music from the bar directly below going until 3 or 4 a.m., so getting sleep was nearly impossible. The bed was only 120cm wide and far too small for two, while the sofa bed was even more uncomfortable and not suitable for two either. We booked for three, but the sofa bed hadn't been prepared when we arrived. The apartment wasn't clean, and the bathroom layout was so cramped and awkward that you had to sit sideways on the toilet. We ended up using bathrooms at nearby restaurants instead. I can't recommend it if you want to sleep. Maybe it suits people who plan to party late and don't mind the noise, but otherwise I'd book somewhere else.

The beds were very comfortable, and the bathroom was exceptionally clean with great lighting. My apartment at Mono Suites New Town was beautiful, spacious, modern and spotless. Everything looked brand new, and the decor gave it a real luxury feel.

The apartment turned out to be fab, despite the low review average that had made me nervous. Trip Advisory and Booking.com both had much higher ratings. It was hard to beat the location, right among lots of lovely restaurants, bars, and cafes. Getting in and out was easy with the codes, and the text and email explained them clearly. The price was great, too. Inside, it was clean, modern-looking, and well equipped, with plenty of outlets including USB-C. I appreciated the extra pillows and towels, plus thoughtful bits like ear plugs, tea, and cookies. The bed might feel a tad small for two if I’d been travelling with my spouse, but for me alone it was perfect. I had zero noise issues. I was there for work and often up late for events, but heard nothing in the evenings or mornings and didn’t even use the earplugs.

The location and shower were okay, but the rest of the stay was a letdown, especially for the price. A pub sits right below the apartment and has live music every night until at least 1 AM. The bass was strong enough to make the floor vibrate, and earplugs did nothing. We couldn’t sleep before 1 AM. We reported it on our first night, but management offered no help. If we’d known, we’d have chosen somewhere else. Sleeping arrangements were uncomfortable too. The double bed was much too narrow for two adults, and the sofa bed had to be pulled out by hand and was even worse. One person might manage it, but two adults would struggle. The toilet was nearly unusable because you had to sit at an awkward angle. I wouldn’t recommend this apartment to anyone wanting a comfortable, restful stay.
