Our honeymoon couldn’t have started better than at Straven Guesthouse. We arrived late, and Sinead welcomed us so warmly and took great care of us, giving us all the information we needed. The room was clean, classic, and inviting. Breakfast was phenomenal, with lots of choices. Everything was homemade, and you could taste the difference. The house is at Portobello Beach, just a minute’s walk from the shore, and parking out front wasn’t a problem. It’s about 25 minutes by bus into Edinburgh City, with the stop only a three-minute walk away. Just perfect. Sinead and Chris are doing a great job, and Chris is very caring and interested. We’d love to come back.

Breakfast was especially good, and Chris and Sinead made us feel so welcome. Straven has a lovely setting near the beach, with handy buses into the city centre. There were lots of thoughtful little touches, too.

We really enjoyed our honeymoon stay here and can't think of any downsides. The room was quiet, clean and cosy, with a view of the garden; tea, coffee, water and snacks were provided. Breakfast had loads of delicious choices, and we looked forward to it each morning. Chris and Sinead were friendly, lovely hosts. The guest house is just steps from the sea in a peaceful neighbourhood, with shops and restaurants nearby. It felt like a relaxing escape, while the city centre was still easy to reach on one bus, around 30 minutes. Great value, and we'd happily recommend it.

Portobello Beach is right on the doorstep, and the bus to the city centre takes about 30 minutes from a stop just around the corner. It's a quiet, pleasant residential area. Sinead&Chris welcomed me warmly and were always friendly and helpful. Their home is cosy, and breakfast had plenty of delicious options. I stayed for six nights, had a wonderful week and will definitely return. Thank you!

The beach is a minute away, with places to eat in Portobello all within walking distance. Getting to Edinburgh city centre takes about 25 minutes by bus. Our room was lovely, and breakfast was amazing, with so much to choose from. Sinead and Chris were warm and friendly and made everything comfortable and relaxing. A wonderful place to stay. Highly recommended, and we'd come back if we're in Edinburgh again.
