The Hedges

The Hedges made another lovely base for our Edinburgh weekend. Our room was spotless, stylish and comfortable, with a roomy en-suite, a wonderfully powerful shower and the fluffiest towels. Tea and coffee were provided, along with Scottish tablet or handmade chocolate Bon Bons, a nice little touch. The hosts were warm and professional, and the location works perfectly for exploring the historic city.

A really kind host looked after us from check-in right through checkout, and brought tea, coffee, fresh water each day, homemade shortbreads and chocolate brownies. There was whiskey in the room too. The room was spacious and extremely clean, with quality toiletries and a cosy bed that let us sleep well in the quiet. It's within walking distance of the town centre and tourist attractions. We were in Heather's smallest room, but the bed was comfortably soft and the bathroom looked new and was very clean. Breakfast came as either smoked salmon or a Scottish breakfast, and perhaps there was another option too. Heather went to a lot of effort making takeaway breakfasts for us. The Royal Mile and plenty of places to eat are walkable from here. Arrive by 8 or 9 pm, or let her know if you'll be later.

The room was amazing, with a really comfortable bed, and breakfast the next day was delicious and home cooked. The woman who welcomed us on Saturday was so sweet. She offered shortbreads, homemade flapjacks, coffee, tea or water, then gave us a little Edinburgh map and talked us through where to go. Really good, highly recommend.
