We had a big enough room that was quiet and cosy. Some rooms are in the "house" across the street, so I can partly understand the bad reviews about those. Breakfast was delicious, with authentic Scottish options, and the bus and tram services were regular and convenient. The city and sights are also within walking distance. A lovely boutique hotel, with caring staff like Zoltan, who gave us great tips for our city trip.

It’s hard to say this without sounding clichéd, but the staff were beyond amazing. They carried our luggage to and from the taxi, suggested places to eat and visit, and helped us plan better days. Weather delays meant we had to stay an extra two nights, and it was no problem. We even got to keep the same room. Our room had a king bed, two really comfortable chairs, interesting books, and all the amenities. The restaurant was astounding, especially the Traditional Scottish Breakfast, which I highly recommend. The Roseate was very quiet, the service was amazing, and our trip to Scotland was made that much more special. Thanks so much. Best wishes, Dayne and Tamara Wielgoz.

The breakfast was plentiful, and I was glad to find traditional Scottish options. I only wish there’d been more fibre, with salads and vegetables added to the dishes. We were upgraded from a small room in the house across the road to a wonderful room in the main house. Even that first room was perfectly clean, with a welcoming bug bed, artisanal wool pillows, and a greenhouse adjacent. The hotel’s restoration and care for the historic house really showed, as did the team’s attentiveness and high standards in every detail. We had an exceptional stay, and will remember it for years. This hotel shouldn’t be missed if you’re in Edinburgh! 🫶🏻

There were a couple of real highlights: a kind Hungarian man at reception and a lovely young woman in the restaurant both gave exceptional service, despite what seemed like hotel-wide understaffing. But the stay fell well short of what I’d expect for the price. The Hampton Suite was on the lower ground floor with very little natural light. Its tiny bathroom had poor ventilation, and the inadequate half-screen meant the floor flooded each time we showered. The room itself got humid and uncomfortable. Housekeeping ignored several requests to change the bedding, and a broken blind was never repaired. Restaurant and hotel service was slow and inattentive, so we had to follow up more than once for basic items. The food looked good but lacked flavor. Breakfast was limited, though much better than lunch and dinner. The strong fragrance in communal areas triggered a severe allergic reaction. Management said they’d look into it but never followed up, even though staff said they also struggled with the scent.

We had a wonderful honeymoon at The Roseate House. Our Executive Suite was in the beautiful main building, where reception is, and we’d highly recommend the excellent afternoon tea. Max’s service was impeccable. Zoltan made everything feel effortless and special from the moment we arrived. His attention to detail, kindness, and understanding of my partner’s sickness meant a lot to us. The hotel itself is beautiful and perfectly located, with a picturesque walking path nearby that goes right to Dean Village. It’s also an easy, comfortable drive to the airport. Such a lovely experience for a special occasion.
