Getting around was easy, with buses from Edinburgh Lothian Road, trams to Gyle Centre and Scotrail to South Gyle. Breakfast had plenty of choice, and the staff there were lovely. My room was clean, modern and more up to date than other Travelodges I’ve stayed in. It was comfortable, nicely presented and had air conditioning. On the first of my two nights, Ann, I think, checked me in and made a brilliant first impression. She was so pleasant and couldn’t do enough for me. I really enjoyed the stay and will definitely be back.

There’s ample parking, but I definitely won’t stay again. The hotel heating was out and the rooms were freezing, with windows left open adding to the cold. I had to carry an electric heater up from reception. Breakfast was a mess. One cook and one person covering reception and clearing tables meant we had to clear our own. We ate whatever scraps made it out of the kitchen, and the coffee machine wasn’t working properly either.

We were in Edinburgh for three nights of exploring, and the hotel was a 10-minute walk from Edinburgh Central. We ate at the Westgate Farm next door. Our clean, spacious room had a comfy bed, and the lady looking after us couldn’t have been more helpful. She brought extra towels, carried water to our room and helped with the air con. I’d recommend it.

The reception lady, Ann I think, was always cheerful and welcoming, and nothing was too much trouble. We had a very pleasant stay and would come back. The hotel is well placed for Edinburgh centre, with the No 22 bus outside and the tram from Gyle centre about a 10-minute walk away. We had breakfast there one morning and enjoyed it; the pub next door was a nice change.

The rooms were very tidy and the staff helpful. Getting around without a car was easy: the bus stop is a five-minute walk away, and buses can take you everywhere. A full-day ticket is well worth the money.
