Wilde Aparthotels, Edinburgh, Grassmarket

We could leave our bags with the staff after checking out until later in the evening, and a taxi arrived incredibly quickly, about 30 seconds after we called. The staff were friendly, and the calm lobby and bar had soft lighting and plenty of comfortable seats. Our room was clean, modern and playfully decorated. It was exactly what we needed as friends travelling together, especially with the two separate twin beds we booked. Edinburgh Castle is right across the street. We'd book again and recommend it highly.

I liked being able to message the front desk on WhatsApp. When a light fixture was giving me trouble, they replied within five minutes and someone came to look at it within 15. The laundry area was clean too. Our room was comfortable and spotless when we arrived, and the staff were friendly and informative. There's a working kitchenette for making your own meals or breakfast, plus iconic spots and good restaurants nearby. I'd definitely stay again.

One thing to know if you walk from the train station: Google Maps' quickest route to Wilde has stairs, and there were a lot more than I expected. It was my first time in Edinburgh and I'm not very fit. Still, the walk lets you see the city and take lovely photos of Edinburgh Castle. I was glad Wilde Aparthotels had a place here with Castle View rooms. The location is great, there's a big gift shop nearby with Harry Potter merchandise, and the service was excellent. I also liked the pantry where you can pick up drinks and snacks.

The room was clean and thoughtfully designed, and the ambient lighting, kitchen utensils and bathroom made it feel like a second home. I could connect Netflix to the TV using a barcode, which was great. The pantry lets you buy snacks with a card machine, and they provide welcome water and iced tea. The woman at reception was kind and helpful, and suggested places to explore. Perfect for type 1 diabetics, I'd highly recommend it.
