The room was cold and had an unpleasant smell. It was very basic, with the toilet and shower in what seemed like a large cupboard behind a plastic folding door, and the wash basin beside the bed in the bedroom. The place is dated and cluttered, and from outside it looks like a junk shop. We stayed for only an hour before leaving, so I can’t say how comfortable the bed was or comment on breakfast. Fortunately, we found a nearby guesthouse with space. The owner was a pleasant man, but standards need to improve as quickly as the prices keep rising.

I booked after reading the reviews, but my stay this week has made me question them. I’ve travelled all over the world, and this was one of my worst experiences. I couldn’t bring myself to use the shower. It seemed I’d been tagged as an American, so I didn’t get any of the “hospitality” mentioned in the reviews. Awful is the only word for it.

We had a lovely breakfast around the communal table, which we also used for our evening meal. Our spacious twin room faced a quiet road, and it was serviced daily. Donald couldn’t do enough for us, and his home is tastefully decorated with trophies from his local boxing fame. His grandpup Buddy was visiting while we were there and was a joy too. We’re looking forward to another visit. Highly recommended.

The room was spotless and the bed was comfy, with rose petals and balloons set out for us. WiFi worked great, and we really enjoyed the full cooked breakfast. The host was so friendly and welcoming. We’ll definitely be back.

The room is tiny and the single bed is plastic. The place is gross, sorry. For $20 more up the road, you get somewhere that feels like a palace. I’m leaving a day early and paying for a night I won’t even stay. What a rip-off. Don’t stay at the Belleville.
