It’s the people who make The Grey Horse feel like home. Ryan brings so much fun and familiarity to the pub, and Ryan & Tracey are both wonderful hosts. They seem to run the place with the regulars and everyone who comes in at heart. Tracey already does so much to look after people, yet somehow always finds another way to help. Our usual drinks are often poured as soon as we arrive, which feels like such a thoughtful little welcome, and whenever they serve us food, it’s lovely. We really love this place.

The atmosphere is hard to beat, and there’s always plenty to drink. The food is incredible too. Ryan and Tracy make you feel at home whether it’s your first visit or your 101st.

We were looking for a pub in a nice little village outside York, and Google maps led us to The Grey Horse in Elvington. It’s a lovely, quaint little pub, and Zak gave my fiancé and me excellent service. I loved the lasagne, especially with the pesto topping, which went really well with it. The food was amazing, and the prices felt right for the portion sizes. Just take care on the slightly tight turn into the car park. We’d call in again if we’re in the area. Highly recommended.

I’m a regular, usually stopping in for an Amstel, which is always good. Ryan’s a really welcoming and accommodating bloke, especially for a Brummie! 😁 They’ve started offering takeaway from Friday to Sunday each week, until it sells out. I had the Jerk Chicken & Rice last week and it was absolutely spot on. Looking forward to the Irish Stew & Colcannon mash this week.

There’s a lovely decking area, and you can sit outside at the front of the pub too. It’s really dog friendly, and the landlord and team are so welcoming and friendly. The food and drinks were excellent. We’ll definitely be back, highly recommend.
