The Acorn Inn

We expected the usual pub food, mostly deep-fried, since there weren't many options nearby. Turns out we were very wrong. Dinner was so impressive that we returned the next day for the Sunday roast. Everything was cooked just right and tasted closer to fine dining, at a great price. Some of the best meals we've had in a long time. We'd absolutely recommend it and will be back when we're in the area.

A great pub only a couple of minutes' walk from Summer Lodge, with locals and visitors both stopping in. The chefs are excellent and the food is fantastic. I had a really good steak followed by a chocolate dessert, and the wine was reasonably priced. I also popped in separately for a well-earned pint of Tribute after a long walk. There's a little beer garden, a great beer and food selection, and famous Hardy connections. Highly recommended.

We had such a lovely stay in this old pub in the quaint village of Evershot, and hope to come back. The staff were friendly, efficient, attentive, and made us feel welcome from start to finish. Our Evershed room was snug, as expected, but comfortable. It had a firm double bed, TV, shower, tea and coffee facilities, water, and homemade biscuits waiting on arrival. The fan was especially welcome in the summer heatwave. Dinner was so tasty and looked great that we chose to eat in the pub both nights. They also have a broad drinks menu, including some delicious gin cocktails. Breakfast was hearty, with a buffet of juice, pastries, yoghurt, fresh fruit, homemade granola, and lovely spiced apricots, alongside a hot option and tea or coffee. Plenty to keep us going all day. We had a memorable lunchtime visit and look forward to coming back. This is a lovely country inn, with an excellent range of beers and ciders on tap and a fantastic whiskey selection. The food uses locally sourced ingredients, and the dishes are thoughtfully put together, a cut above the usual. We enjoyed every course and thought it was great value. The staff were friendly and attentive without getting in the way. We'd absolutely recommend it. Thank you.
