Cavendish Hotel

We booked a mystery four day break with D J THOMAS coaches and really enjoyed the whole experience. The hotel was clean and comfortable, and on half board we couldn’t fault anything. Food and service were fantastic, and the staff were friendly and welcoming from start to finish. You can always rely on an Alpha hotel. Top marks to everyone. 👍👍

We’ve supported Alfa holidays and stayed at Cavendish Hotel Exmouth before. This visit left us with issues that were still unresolved when we checked out, and the aftercare has been no better. Based on the problems, we’d have been happy to give a 3, but with them left unresolved I can’t rate it above a 1. Don’t bother reporting issues or giving feedback if you expect a timely resolution. I can understand other reviews about the managers’ attitude, as we experienced it too. There were some positives: the rooms and hotel were clean and spacious, the bathroom had a good shower, and the location was great. There was level disabled access at the rear and free parking. The decor was a little dated. The number of Google reviews seems low compared with the number of guests staying. I assume people are too polite to rate their stay unless it was poor or excellent.

My elderly mother stayed here and needed some assistance. She wanted to leave a review because she had such a lovely time. She said the staff were sweet and welcoming at dinner, her room was well presented, and the food was spot on. She especially mentioned Terri, a lovely young waitress who helped make sure she had a good stay. Mum cherished her smile and the little chats that made dinner extra special. She can’t wait to stay again. Thank you all for taking such good care of her.

We’ve stayed at the hotel six times and are looking forward to Christmas 25. Some staff may not be perfect, and some customers aren’t either. That aside, it’s good value for money, and once the staff recognise you, the service is 100 percent.
