The Malthouse

The Malthouse sits in a lovely village, with two good pubs just a stone's throw away, and the garden is beautiful. My family and I spent a long weekend there and loved the charm of the building. Our host was friendly, attentive, and answered all our questions. They made us feel very well looked after. I'd wholeheartedly recommend staying here.

The George was right nearby, with great beer and food, and we found the village Co-op and Flourish Food farm shop really useful for everything from meat and cheese to vegetables and little extras. We also enjoyed long walks on the surrounding footpaths. The house and village have so much history, and the view down to the church is lovely. The garden was beautiful too, and I'd like to return in summer to see it properly and explore more of the area. We spent Christmas 2024 here as a family and had a wonderful time. The house was warm, cosy, comfortable, and thoughtfully decorated for Christmas. We shared lots of meals around the large dining table, and the kitchen had plenty of pots and pans. The two roomy living areas were great for games and evenings by the log fire. Bedrooms were all a good size and comfortable. The downstairs room with an en-suite shower was especially helpful for my mother, who has mobility difficulties. She was so pleased to be able to join in with the family. Deborah was friendly and helpful throughout the year while I arranged the stay, then greeted us and showed us around. We all highly recommend the house. We were sorry to leave.

We had plenty of room to spend time together, but also found quiet corners when we wanted them. The house is beautifully decorated, and we loved relaxing in the charming garden, playing badminton and ping pong, and lingering outside over dinner with our large group. We stayed for a week in early September, just before our wedding in Bath, and it was a lovely place for the family to gather. Bath and other local attractions were easy to reach, and there were good pubs close by, especially The George next door. Deborah was attentive and quick to answer every question. We highly recommend this home.

Our daughters, aged 7 and 9, loved having the play area and public field nearby, and the Co-op was only a few minutes' walk for daily ice creams. The village of Norton at Philip is charming, and The George Inn serves excellent food. We ate there often. Bath is about 15 minutes away by a pleasant drive or bus ride, and the bus stop is right outside. We especially enjoyed the Roman Baths and Longleat Safari park. We spent a month at The Malthouse this summer and loved its character. It's comfortable, with great beds, and the huge primary bedroom was beautiful. The well-equipped kitchen and large table worked perfectly for our group. The garden was stunning, with spectacular views. Management were professional, accommodating, and gave us wonderful recommendations. I wish we could do it all again.
