citizenM Glasgow

When I go out in Glasgow, I usually book this hotel. After a rave, getting into that massive bed is hard to beat. It’s perfect if you’re bringing someone along too. I sleep with the LED lights on, so I like being able to switch off the big light and change the colours to something cosier. I’ve not tried any of the services, since I only use the place to sleep. Last time, changing checkout from 11 in the morning to 2pm cost another £30, which isn’t too bad if you know you’ll be having a late one.

We’d booked at the last minute because the storm had cancelled flights, but Emma at reception got us checked in quickly and looked after us well. Our team of eight all loved the rooms, the lighting and the mood settings at Citizen M Glasgow. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. A big thank you to Viktoria for sorting the room TV when the weather knocked out the signal. It’s a good central spot, the breakfast was great and the breakfast team were attentive and couldn’t do enough for us. Fabulous experience, and I’d recommend Citizen M to anyone visiting Glasgow.

Hannah made us feel welcome straight away and was attentive the whole time. The canteen staff were great too, especially the lovely guy whose name I didn't catch. Housekeeping were friendly and quick, and it was handy being able to choose how often the room was cleaned and how many fresh towels we wanted. The room was spotless and good value despite being compact. I liked controlling things on the tablet, though there were regular switches too. The shower lighting was fun, and made a nice mood for winding down in bed. The only snag was one lift being out of service. Usually that was fine, but one morning we waited about five minutes because the lift arrived too full of staff and cleaning gear for us to get in. Things break sometimes, so hopefully it won't be a long-term problem.

The rooms are on the small side, so it was nice to have a lounge for relaxing or meeting friends. I also liked the compact layout, the iPad controls for the whole room, and the place's fun, trendy feel.
