I was glad the cafe served breakfast from 8, since after a full day hiking and an evening at a local pub, a later start suited me fine. Charlie cooked a very good full English downstairs. I spent five days in Hadfield on a walking break, and the B&B was perfectly adequate for what I needed: a single room for £35 a night, with an en-suite shower and toilet. In room 2, blinds were the only window covering, so some curtains would have helped keep the 4 a.m. sun out.

The cafe downstairs does a great breakfast, and the B&B is right in the centre of Hadfield. The owner was really helpful, and shops, pubs and the railway station are all easy to reach.

This place doesn't exist as advertised. Clicking through the website leads to a scam page full of adverts for hotels in Spain, with nothing in Britain, never mind Derbyshire. The actual building is just a cafe, and its name is completely different from "Hikers and bikers". Rubbish!

It’s cheap and cheerful, and the room was clean, warm and comfortable, with a little en suite. The proprietor was friendly and helpful. I stayed over Christmas to get away from the in-laws.

A pleasant stay, with friendly, helpful people. The room’s basic, so don’t expect the Ritz, but it’s clean and close to everything you need. Handy for hikers and bikers.
