The garden was lovely, and we had a really comfortable, pleasant stay. There was a fridge and microwave in the room. The car park is easy to find at the back, down Hyde Lane, though it’s a little tight for larger vehicles.

The two ladies looking after us were friendly and efficient, and parking was no problem. We paid the relatively small extra amount for the cooked-to-order full English breakfast, which was delicious and made with good quality products. At The Edward Hotel, our twin room was spacious, clean and quiet, with comfortable beds, a fridge and microwave. They’d even put oat milk on the welcome tray. We’d certainly stay there again.

It was easy to walk into the city from here, and free parking was a big bonus. My room faced the front, but the double glazing kept the night quiet. The bed was really comfortable, the shower had great pressure, and the room was clean with useful extras like a fridge and microwave. There’s also a guest kitchenette, a lovely touch. Couldn’t fault it and would stay again.

Karen was so kind when we checked in. I explained that our 20 years old daughter had to come with us because of her university schedule, and Karen arranged a bigger room with an extra bed for her. Thanks again to Karen, the kind lady. The Edward Hotel was a pleasant surprise, with historical photos of Gloucester city and a well-equipped room that also had a microwave oven and fridge. Having a free car park on site made it even better. Great value for money, and a hotel with a personal touch.

I can’t understand why this place only has 2 official stars. It deserves at least 4. The hotel is beautifully kept, clean, warm and friendly, and it’s a 10 - 15 min walk from the Gloucester Cathedral area. Ideal if you’re working away from home, don’t know the area and would rather not drive around the city. You won’t be disappointed staying here. Enjoy your stay!
