Kelpies is only about a 10 minute walk away, which is handy for visiting in the evening when they’re lit up. Our room was very nice, clean, and had a comfy bed. The complimentary soap and shampoo were good, and the shower had hot water straight away. It’s a 40 minute walk into town, though, and with the roadworks it feels like you’re all over the place, especially when you’re already exhausted from walking.

The staff were very friendly, and the lodge was lovely and clean. There’s no bar or restaurant, but you can heat food in the microwave or get something delivered. There are lots of roadworks around the area, though they didn’t affect the lodge. It’s in an industrial area, so look elsewhere if you want nice views. It is very handy for walking to the Kelpies.

We had very few complaints about noise overnight, and the staff member who welcomed us was very nice. The room was spacious, as was the bathroom, and the shower was great. We stayed one night at the premier lodge in Falkirk. When we checked the bed, we found lots of black hairs, which made me think the sheets hadn’t been changed. The shower hose was covered in black mold, and there was a bright safety light in the room that made it a bit hard to sleep. It’s an OK place, but I’d have rated it higher if the bed had been cleaner.

I didn’t sleep as well as I’d hoped because of noise outside the hotel’s control: a low hum like an air conditioning unit through the night, a cherry picker starting up around 5:30 am, and some very chatty seagulls. I know things like that happen, and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again, though light sleepers might want earplugs. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable, with a comfy bed and a great shower. The staff were lovely, some of the best I’ve come across.

A great basic place to stay, with friendly reception staff. There’s a small kitchen available, and the Kelpies are a short walk away. The room was great for the price.
