Private luxury retreat

There were no locks on the doors, so it felt like someone could come in from upstairs at any time. Getting to the “apartment” meant going through my colleague’s bedroom, which had a very odd smell when we arrived. It was sparsely decorated, with no home comforts, and the mattress was terrible. It was noisy too. I absolutely wouldn’t recommend it. The owner needs to be honest about what people are paying for.

There’s a deer walk near the house, and the place is a great escape from the rat race where you can enjoy some peace. The house feels like home to me, with clean heated wooden floors, a large kitchen, enormous rooms and lots of space. Jason is very friendly and ready to help however he can. I was late for check-in but it wasn’t a problem.

The garden is beautiful and the location is tranquil. The property itself is modern, spacious, beautifully decorated and better than a stay at a five-star hotel. Jason used to be an art dealer, and you can see it in the tasteful decor. Bravo, Jason!

Jason, the proprietor, was attentive and helpful at every turn, and we felt at ease straight away. The newly refurbished place sits in pretty grounds and has a quirky but modern feel. It’s a little gem and really good value. We loved it, and breakfast was first class x
