The views over the fields from our room were lovely, and the room itself was fantastic. Sue gave us such a warm welcome. The pub menu might look familiar, but everything was done really well. We had a lovely break and hope to come back.

We had dinner and breakfast there each of our three days, and the food was delicious and generous. Diana and her staff were so friendly and welcoming, and we even had drinks with Diana and some locals on our last night. There might have been dancing too 😊 Our room had everything we needed: a hairdryer, fridge stocked with bottled water and fresh milk, a range of teas, ground coffee and a cafetiere. The bathroom was a good size with a huge shower, toiletries, and big soft towels. We thoroughly enjoyed our three-night stay.

The staff were very helpful and the shower was lovely. It's a quiet village, so I slept well. The meals were a letdown, especially breakfast. I had dinner guests who clearly explained that they needed gluten-free food, but the kitchen didn't seem to understand, and one of them had a bad attack. They also struggled to provide a suitable yeast-free breakfast.

The bedroom windows look out over fantastic fields, and the rooms have some really nice touches. The TVs in the bedrooms are perhaps a little small, though they were fine. Breakfast normally starts at 8:30am, but when we asked, they were able to serve us at 8am.

The room was nice, and the woman who got it ready for us was friendly, chatty, and helpful. Dinner on the first evening was okay, but breakfast was poor: one sausage, two rashers of bacon, a dessertspoon of beans, and one egg. The cook seemed distracted. A few days later, I had a much better breakfast at a Premier Inn. We'd booked dinner for the next evening too, but I wish we'd reconsidered. We explained carefully that two guests had gluten problems, one an intolerance and the other a serious allergy, and were assured it would be fine. It wasn't. The guest with the allergy became quite ill that evening. Gluten-free toast was listed as an option, but it seems likely it was made in an electric toaster that had been used for regular bread. That's really unacceptable. Any worse and we'd have needed the EpiPen. Will we come back? No.
