Dragon Villas Luxury Apart Hotel Harrogate

It’s a beautiful building with lovely decor, and the centre is about a 15-minute walk away. The bed was very comfortable, and the linen was lovely and clean. Sadly, the cleanliness elsewhere was far below what you’d expect from somewhere described as luxurious. There was dust, and rubbish in the drawers and under the bed. Booking.com said luxury bathrobes and wine or champagne would be provided, but neither was there. The shower dial was broken and had been repaired with a sharp screw. It’s a shame, since these things could be put right quite easily.

I paid and booked a couple of weeks before my trip, but when I arrived in the dark in November there was no reception and I’d received no instructions for getting in. I called and was told Maison Parfaite had no record of my booking. After I emailed over the confirmation and receipt, I waited outside for 45 minutes while they tried to work out how I could enter. In the end I gave up and went to a Travelodge. Charlotte did as much as she could in the situation, and the refund came through quickly, but I wouldn’t risk staying there again.

We booked the Garden Apartment at Dragon Villa's in Harrogate through Maison Parfait for our 50th wedding anniversary. It was meant to be a ground-floor, two-bedroom place with both bedrooms ensuite, for two nights at £300 in total. When we arrived at 3pm Friday 29th Dec, 2024, the outside light by the door was broken, so I used my phone light to enter the access code. There was a damp smell in our bedroom ensuite. After unpacking, we were having tea in the living room when water came through the ceiling via the smoke alarm. I caught most of it in the plastic refuse bin, while my wife called Maison Parfait. They said a plumber might arrive in about an hour, but couldn’t guarantee it. They offered another apartment in the building for us to inspect. It was a much smaller, one-bedroom basement flat without an ensuite, but we had no real choice and accepted it. That apartment had no wi-fi or stair handrail, no cushions on the settee, and dirty marks on the settee and the bed’s counterpane. We made the best of it. The woman my wife spoke to about the leak agreed we should get compensation for moving to a much smaller apartment. We thought we’d return to our original place the next night, but nobody contacted us. Once home, I emailed asking for a full refund, or at least the £100 difference between the apartments. Management refused, saying they had resolved the problem that night by offering the other apartment. I completely disagree, but the people we spoke with, Charlotte and Chelsea, said management’s decision was final and there was no appeal. In my view, the difference in value was the minimum fair compensation. This was a breach of contract and a material misrepresentation, since we were given a lower-value apartment. I would NOT recommend booking through Maison Parfait. They could have offered some kind of refund to put this right.

The location made getting into Harrogate centre easy, and parking was right outside with a blue disc for free parking. Our Dragon Villas apartment was spotless, beautifully decorated, and had everything we needed for a comfortable visit. We had a real delight of a stay and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area." Cristina
