The room was clean, and the bedding and bathroom were spotless after the refurbishment. I've always liked this Travelodge for its handy location when I was working nearby from London. This time I brought my wife as a treat, and she was impressed too, even though she's more used to five-star places like the Fairmont St Andrews. Greggs next door is a nice extra.

The man at reception was really lovely and sorted things out when the shower drain backed up and flooded the bathroom. He offered me another room, but it hadn't been cleaned properly either. The tub was dirty and stained, and there was hair all over the floor and mirrors, even though it was supposed to have just been cleaned.

The bed was really comfortable and clean, but a steady droning noise kept me awake all night, even with earplugs, so I barely slept. The room looked basic but comfortable at first; then I noticed lots of dust along the edges, a used sanitary towel in its disposal bag in the bin, rust and grime around the shower, and a gross underside of the toilet rim. I'm a cleaner by profession, so I noticed it. There was no receptionist for about 10 minutes when I arrived, until I rang the outside bell. Also, a two-seater sofa would fit and would be better for couples than the one small armchair.

My daughter was so happy when the little sheep finally arrived in the post two days ago. It's her first toy and very precious to her, so the wait felt long, and she cried many nights thinking about it. We had stayed at this Travelodge on October 19, 2025, and found it cleaner and more welcoming than the other Travelodge hotels we'd visited. After we got home, we realized she'd left the sheep behind. The hotel took our details when we called and said they'd send it. We called twice more a few days later, which added £22 to our phone bill, then emailed customer service when there was still no news. Thank you so much for sending it and making her so happy.

The staff are polite, helpful, and happy to do whatever they can. The rooms have been refreshed nicely, and the location is very convenient, with a petrol station shop, Starbucks, and Greggs right next door.
