The Little Mill Inn

One thing to keep in mind if you’re staying: the kitchen closes at 7pm. If you arrive later and need food, you may want to plan ahead, eat on the way, or pop into New Mills. The Little Mill has been my favourite place to visit and stay around here for years. I came with my parents for more than 40 years, and now I bring my own family. I have so many special memories here. The rooms are lovely, the food is delicious, and the staff are always helpful and friendly.

They really knew how to handle my allergy, and I felt informed and looked after. The pub grub was the tastiest I’ve had in ages, with generous portions and friendly service. Keep it up.

We’d happily come back, whether for a meal or another stay. It’s clearly a popular place, and even in October it was busy. The kids’ play area was good, with animals and two lovely goats. There were also little dogs wandering around the welcoming bar, which had a nice choice of drinks. Our deluxe family room was huge for us and our four-month-old. It had two bedrooms open to one another, connected by steps, with a king bed and a double bed. You can get to it along the outside path, which works well with a pram, or take the stairs through the pub. The owner and staff were all very friendly and chatty. We stayed one night and had a lovely cooked breakfast with plenty of choice, plus cereal, yoghurt and fresh juices. It was a beautiful place, and I can imagine it gets especially popular in summer.

My wife gave the fish and chips a 10 out of 10, which says a lot since we have a fish and chip shop ourselves. And the mixed grill? After 45 years of trying them all over, this is easily the best I’ve had. The staff were amazing too. I’ll be going on about how good it was all week. Get yourself to the Little Mill, you won’t be disappointed.
