The room was much too hot, especially the bathroom, and there was no way to switch off the heating. Still, we had a lovely stay in a lovely spot. The owner gave us a warm welcome, the staff were really helpful, and breakfast had a good selection. The made-to-order pizza was very tasty too.

We like trying new places, but we won't be coming back here. The pub looked lovely and felt welcoming, yet the roast dinners were a letdown: small portions, very disappointing amounts of meat, and vegetables that were barely edible. The cauliflower was blue and had no taste, and the Yorkshire puddings were so chewy. The food was awful.

The steak was cooked just right, and the chunky, rustic chips tasted properly homemade. The pub has recently changed hands and reopened on 18th August. The staff were cheerful and friendly, and the service couldn't have been better. Book now, you won't regret it.

We had a family room with a double and a single bed for £45 each for Saturday night, and it was great value. The room was fresh, quiet and very comfortable. This was my third stay at the Angel, and once again it was excellent. Staff were friendly and happy to work around our early starts, and access and parking were easy. The food and beer are excellent too. On my last visit, the liver and bacon was superb, and I had the best Creme Brulee I've ever had here. If you're staying nearby, I definitely recommend the Angel. Just don't pinch our room!

The room was dated and needed a proper clean. There were grim stains on the divan cover, throw pillow and bedspread, though the bed itself was clean. At £70, it didn't feel worth the price. The male manager was exceptionally good with customers and super friendly, but the woman who checked me out barely spoke to me.
