The food was the standout. My pork belly with mash and scallops was one of the tastiest meals I've had in ages. The gravy was so good I could've drunk it, and the crackling really did crack. My wife loved her salmon and prawns, and we finished with excellent apple and blackberry crumble and custard. The camembert starter was lovely too. Great portions and plenty to choose from. The steak and burgers looked amazing, so we'll definitely go back. It was a cosy, clean place when we visited at the end of Feb 26. Lots of drinks to choose from and the lager was cold. The young man and woman serving us were polite and friendly, even though I can't remember their names. They made us feel welcome. Service was quick and the price very reasonable. Top marks all round.

The roast pork was delicious and cooked to a high standard. Chefs Ben and Caitlin did a great job, and Ruby was a kind, helpful server who made us feel welcome. The bar staff were friendly too, and the beer was very good. We had a lovely evening and will return. I'd highly recommend this pub for a drink or a meal.

The staff's friendliness really stood out. The dark-haired young woman and bearded young man were both superb and deserve a mention. We stayed one night while hiking and would happily return. Room #16 was spacious and comfortable, dinner was superb, and breakfast was included and cooked fresh to order rather than served as a typical hotel buffet.

We had a lovely New Year's Eve meal. The menu was good value and the food was very good overall. The dining room is a lovely space, and we'd definitely return. Service felt a little hectic, though that's understandable on New Year's Eve. It was still a good night.

We were visiting castleton for a few days and tried dinner at castle pub. The atmosphere and food were both great, and Ruby made the evening especially enjoyable with her brilliant, attentive service. We liked it enough to come back the next day for Sunday lunch. Highly recommended.
