The only small snag was getting ready: there's no mirror in the bedroom, just one in the bathroom, which makes drying your hair tricky. Otherwise, we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The staff were friendly and made us comfortable, the food was delicious at dinner and breakfast, and the beds and shower were great. It's also a lovely spot for scenic walks.

We celebrated both Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve here, and it was open on most days over Christmas. The food and drinks were good and fairly priced, and we enjoyed the warm atmosphere. The staff and regulars were exceptionally friendly and welcoming.

Karen and her team took great care of our group and were exceptional hosts. The pub had a warm, friendly atmosphere, with great service and excellent food. We stayed on Saturday night for dinner, bed, and breakfast, and the rooms were clean and well appointed. A fabulous stay, thanks very much, and see you all again soon!

One of the worst pub meals I've had. We booked a table for two for 2.30pm on Sunday, then were told when we arrived that all the roasts were gone, with no chicken, pork, or potatoes left. The remaining menu was fairly basic. The pâté came without sourdough, and the chicken, leek, and ham pie was missing two of its three ingredients. It was swamped in fairly strong-flavoured gravy and served with lots of fries and peas.
