I honestly wish I could live here full time. The team are brilliant, and there’s always a smile and a hello at the front desk. If maintenance is needed, things get sorted quickly. Everything is kept to a high standard, and the windows do a great job of blocking road noise. It’s a beautiful place, right beside the uni and close to town and plenty of shops. If you need somewhere to stay while at university, look here. I’d give it more than 5*.

I was leaning toward a different place to stay, but after Freya showed me around Oldgate house and took me through some different rooms, I’m starting to prefer it. She was really friendly and accommodating.

My room feels close to living in a luxury hotell, and the common areas are great too. A few things have a cheap feel, but the rooms certainly don’t deserve one star. Management have always been nice to me and helpful when something’s gone wrong. They put effort into decorating for special events and offering free snacks and coffee. The elevator and laundry room can get messy sometimes, apparently because of tenants. From what I’ve seen, they’re cleaned either that day or the next. When fire alarms have gone off in the evening, also because of tenants, management usually turn up within 10 - 20 mins and sort things out. There could be improvements to how alarms are handled, and a better cleaning crew might help. It’s upsetting to see so many low reviews based only on bad experiences with management. Be nice to them and they’ll be nice back. I don’t get the impression those reviews take the rooms into account. Oldgate House is excellent student accommodation.

I moved into Oldgate house for my second year at university and have had the best experience here. The facilities are clean, up to standard and amazing, and any issues get dealt with quickly and effectively. The staff are kind and lovely, and always make students feel welcome. Even during these difficult times, they still try to put on fun activities and make us feel better about the current circumstances. No complaints.

I’ve really enjoyed living here and will rebook next year. The rooms are lovely and comfortable, and the team are quick to help with needs or fix problems. There’s always someone on site if you have an issue or question. The manager, Ryan, is such a nice guy and always ready to listen. They also put on social events with FREE FOOD so we can get to know each other. Honestly, the best student accommodation in Huddersfield. I’ve had no worries since moving in.
