The staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast at the cafe next door was to die for. I left early and they kindly supplied me with a large packed lunch, thank you. Huntly Castle is worth a look and only a ten minute walk away. The hotel is about ten minutes from the station too, though watch for hail stones. I hadn’t been back home for 30 years, and on the whole, not much has changed. Huntly has a lovely location, but many shops were closed while renovations were going on. The hotel definitely needs updating, but overall I’d recommend staying there.

We ended up staying because bad weather made the roads around Huntly impassable. Our room was clean and warm, though it needs updating, which is why it got the lowest score of the three. The service was first class, largely thanks to manager Amy. She worked incredibly hard to find rooms for all the stranded people and let us know where to get food since the hotel chef wasn’t available. Breakfast was great too, whether another chef made it or the staff all pitched in, who knows, but it was excellent.

I don't usually leave negative reviews because I know how much businesses depend on them, but this hotel really disappointed me. The building is beautiful, and the Google photos seem to show how it looked when it was at its best. It feels like a lost place now. My room smelled like an old person, the shower pressure was a joke, and the carpet stains a commenter photographed and posted here 8 months ago are still there. Not at that price, and I wouldn't return. The breakfast was nice, though.

It feels more like a bed and breakfast than a hotel, and the rooms are okay, with a comfortable bed, but the setting seems more like two stars. The new owner is working really hard to renovate and keep the place in better shape. The staff were amazing and went out of their way to help and make me feel welcome. The hotel bar, “Cheers”, has a great selection of alcohol and has that local feel of the famous Cheers bars, where everyone is welcome. Breakfast is a very nice traditional one, but you have to get there in time. On my last day there was no meat left, so I had two eggs and toast. Thanks for making me feel welcome during my stay.

We had a hearty portion of each of my three courses, and the food was excellent and great value. The Chef's cheesecake of the day was especially good, and I’d highly recommend it. We were early for our table booking after a day out in the area, so we waited at the bar next door and in the outside beer garden. The bar staff were very helpful and let us know when our table was ready in the Gordon Arms Hotel Lounge. The lounge had light background music and a nice atmosphere for coffees and a chat after the meal. Staff were polite and helpful throughout.
