The White Hart B&B

Laura and the team worked incredibly hard to make our wedding reception at The White Hart go smoothly. They put up all our decorations in the marquee, made the garden look beautiful and took care of everything throughout the evening. The staff were brilliant and went out of their way to help. Our guests loved the venue and said the hog roast was delicious. We stayed in the two newly refurbished hotel rooms, which were lovely and super comfortable. We’re so grateful to everyone, and can’t wait to come back for more dining. We’d 100% recommend it. Thank you all so much. Danielle and Tony x

The pub and location are lovely, and the place has a lot of potential, but we were very disappointed. We waited 45 minutes for starters, then another 40 for the mains. While we waited, several customers at the bar were complaining about their wait too. The food was average at best, and the mash didn’t seem proper, more like Smash. Staff told us when ordering that there was no pizza, meatballs or steak pie, but then we saw other customers being served pizza. When offered the dessert menu, we said it looked nice but couldn’t face waiting another 40 minutes. The young lad collecting plates and clearing tables was very apologetic. He explained that the next day was Father’s Day and they had 300 covers. Good luck to anyone visiting on the 21st. We might come back once the reviews improve.

I’m vegetarian and often find restaurant food uninspiring, but the nut roast dinner at The White Hart was hot, tasty and nicely presented, with a good variety of vegetables and a really good portion size. The establishment was spotlessly clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. This was my first visit, but definitely won’t be my last. Well done, The White Hart. I’m looking forward to coming back.

The Thai inspired fishcake was dreadful, mostly mash with just a little salmon, deep fried until orange. Spring rolls were okay, but the tempura prawns were skinny little prawns with loads of batter. We sat in the garden while a couple of staff had a violent row over the fence. A couple of weeks earlier, I’d ordered mini fish and chips, which were okay. My friend got the skate, and it took nearly an hour. When we asked what had happened, a male member of staff was a bit rude. We pointed out that customers who arrived after us had already been served and eaten, but he said skate takes a lot of cooking. I used to love the White Hart Inn, but I won’t be back.
