The Station Hotel

We went for dinner at the station hotel restaurant, now under new management. The hostess was lovely and got us seated quickly, and there’s plenty of variety on the menu. The scallops, prawn and smoked salmon starters were delicious; monkfish and venison for mains were pretty good, though I think they could have used a few more vegetables or potatoes. Sticky toffee pudding and bread pudding were both great. Everything was well prepared and beautifully served. Dog friendly if you let them know in advance. We’ll visit again. Three courses and a beer came to £50 per person with tip.

We’ll definitely be back. The staff made the place special, with everyone welcoming and friendly and going out of their way to make sure we had a great experience. The bar and restaurant were fantastic too: beautifully made drinks and food that was some of the best we’ve had in a long time. Our room was spotless, modern and finished to a high standard, with plenty of care evident in how well everything was kept. A brilliant hotel, highly recommended.

On a wet Sunday, I had the best roast lamb lunch I’ve had in ages. It was cooked superbly, with vegetables that weren’t overcooked and great roast potatoes. The waitresses served us with lovely smiles, and the service was great. The menu has nice choices, and the price felt reasonable for the quality. Locals should give it a try. Highly recommend.

I stayed for nearly two weeks and loved it. The hosts are welcoming, friendly and easy to get along with. The rooms are spacious, spotless and well kept, and the beds are comfortable. The food was phenomenal; I loved everything I ordered.
