The Station Hotel

I stopped in for a drink while waiting for my train. The indoor bar is a lovely, nicely decorated space, with plenty of reasonably priced drinks. There are a few outdoor tables that are nice in the sun, though the area itself isn't much to write home about. The bathrooms were a real letdown, downstairs and literally falling apart, which brought the rest of the place down. Still decent enough if you just want a drink.

They haven't been keeping the pumps stocked. About 80% of the beer on tap has been unavailable for a week, and the bar staff blame football. To me, it looks like they haven't adjusted to the changing footfall. They also removed the stools at the bar, where I used to sit and chat, so now customers have to find a table. It doesn't feel like a pub that way. Don't go expecting dependable service or reception. Not a good customer experience.

We came by coach for the football, having booked during the week through the coach organiser. When we got there, we were told darts weren't allowed because someone might get stabbed. They advertise ales, but had none to serve, not even Guinness or Camden ale. There was no Jagger's either. We were made to feel unwanted, so I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Avoid at all costs.

Hardly any beer to choose from. The way to the toilet stinks, and there were plants growing out of the floor in the women's bathroom.
