Harbourside Hotel

The Marine View Hotel is well cared for, and the staff are lovely and welcoming. Its decor gets a nice balance of calm coastal surroundings and traditional Scottish culture. We had a wonderful stay. The room was thoughtfully set up, with the necessities topped up, a super comfortable bed and a nice bathroom. The location is excellent, right on the harbour and close to good restaurants and the train station. I’d absolutely stay here again.

The manager was kind, helpful and attentive, and the cleaner was lovely and friendly too, though I can’t remember her name, just that she was a blonde lady. We stayed in one of the two outer buildings, which are pet friendly, and it was lovely. It was comfortable, bright and airy, with comfortable beds, a mini kitchen and a nice shower room with toilet. We didn’t need to clean again. There’s free parking out front, and the harbour, shops and restaurants are right on your doorstep. The station is two minutes from the hotel. It’s child friendly, solo friendly and couple friendly. I’d 100% stay again. I was so tired I didn’t take any photos, which is rare for me.

We talked about the food all the way home. The Brie and chilli jam starter was rich and gooey, a lovely mix of creamy and spicy, and the seared cod with potatoes and parsley butter was genuinely the best meal I’ve ever had. It was cooked perfectly, full of flavour and beautifully presented. The atmosphere at the Harbourside Hotel was calm, comfortable and welcoming from the moment we walked in. Every staff member we met was polite and attentive, especially our waitress, whose name we wish we could remember after such a long day. She was warm, friendly and fantastic with our kids. Service was 10/10. Can’t wait to return.

Good value for money, especially with a booking at short notice. The shop next door makes nice ice cream. We had good meals at the museum, Puffer?, across the road, about 100m away.
