Leonardo Royal Hotel Edinburgh

The coffee machine with pods was a fantastic touch. I'm a bit of a coffee snob, and this coffee was honestly great. The bed was comfortable, the room was dark, and the decor was up to modern standards. The location was great too, up some steep steps and straight onto the Royal Mile. Staff were friendly. One elevator wasn't working, though, and since I was on a high floor there were times I had to wait quite a while. Otherwise, it was absolutely spot on and I'd return.

The rooms were lovely, the breakfast fantastic and the location amazing, right across from the station. But the staff were the best part. Tara and Adrienne were so lovely, and Cass was amazing. This girly needs a raise! On our first day, she spent a good half hour going over the map with us, pointing out the best parts of Edinburgh and making sure we knew where we were going. We really appreciated her time and help. We'll definitely only stay here when we're back!

The location was excellent, a short walk from the train station and still close to Old Town and lots of major attractions. Arriving with luggage was easy. Check-in and checkout were smooth, the room was clean, the bed large and comfortable, and the shower great. We appreciated the mini fridge and safe, the hotel's modern look, and the helpful front desk staff, who arranged an early morning airport taxi without any trouble. We stayed at the Leonardo Royal Hotel Edinburgh for our 10 year wedding anniversary. There were positives, but also several disappointments. The main issue was construction right outside our window. It was noisy during the day and there was a noticeable smell from the work area. When we booked, we were asked if we were celebrating anything special and I mentioned our anniversary. It was disappointing to get a room overlooking an active construction site. We understand construction can be outside the hotel's control, but a heads-up would've helped us set expectations or ask for another room. We were also traveling without kids for the first time in a while and hoped to relax during the day, but even a quick nap was difficult. The room got quite warm and stuffy at night even with the AC running. It was also far from the elevator, down long, winding hallways, which made the walk a bit of a trek. The TV was frustrating: it often took several tries to turn on fully, and the menu showed no information. Finding something to watch meant flipping through channels one by one and waiting a few seconds for each picture. Netflix was listed, but we couldn't select it or sign in. There was no room service menu in the room or easily available online, so ordering food was difficult. Housekeeping made the bed and refreshed the water each day, but didn't change the sheets during our stay. The location, comfort and cleanliness gave the hotel a lot going for it, but the construction view and room issues took away from what could've been a much better stay.

Breakfast was a highlight, with a superb range of fresh, high-quality food, plenty of it, and everything well prepared. It was a great way to start the day. Leonardo Royal Hotel in Edinburgh is ideally placed in the heart of the city, within easy walking distance of the Royal Mile, Waverley Station and many of Edinburgh's main attractions. Sightseeing was really convenient, and I'd happily recommend the comfortable hotel and stay here again.
