Dunvegan House Guest House

The breakfasts alone were amazing. The cooked ones were beautifully presented and delicious, with fresh ingredients and rich golden-yolk eggs. The continental spread had plenty of fruit, Activia yoghurts, cereal and juices. I asked Fiona about porridge for me, and she sweetly said there'd be plenty. She told me she'd been a chef years ago, which explained how she managed to cook two breakfasts for three days so consistently. We ate them so quickly we didn't even get photos. My wife had never been to Arran, and we booked Dunvegan house for three nights for her birthday. We picked it from the B&B lists mostly for the price and spectacular views, which you can see in our photos. Fiona was lovely on the phone, more or less a local, and knew so much about Arran. She showed us to our ground-floor room facing the sea, Brodick castle and goatfell, explained what guests needed to know, and everything was well signed through the house. The room was delightful and lovingly furnished, and the ensuite was really nice. The next morning we woke to a beautiful sunrise over Goatfell. My wife and I have travelled around Scotland a lot, but this little break was as wonderful as any we've had. Thanks again, Fiona, for one of our best travel experiences. We'll definitely be back.
