The Ormidale Hotel

It felt more like staying with friends than being at a hotel. The lovely old building has been in the family for years, and everyone I met made me feel welcome. The staff were lovely and the food was fabulous. I couldn't fault the place. Go and stay, you won't regret it!

Helpful, friendly people, and a good choice of twin rooms if you’re sharing with a friend. It’s an older-style hotel with a busy bar and a varied pub menu in the evening. Breakfast was great, especially the Skipness smoked haddock, which was the best we tasted. There was plenty of real yoghurt and fresh fruit to start with too.

We stopped for our first meal after arriving in Arran and really enjoyed it. The food was fantastic, the staff were friendly, and there happened to be a pub quiz that night. A relaxing place for good food and drinks, and I’d highly recommend the hotel.

We came across this place by chance after finding other restaurants closed or unavailable, and it turned out to be a great find. The bar has a lovely traditional Scottish feel, with a view through to the kitchen where the chef was preparing the food, which was clearly cooked fresh on site. The menu had a good range, including smaller portions, and there were plenty of drinks to choose from. Staff were attentive without hovering, and happily brought me a cushion when I asked. As a hotel, they serve food all day, which is handy for holidaymakers. I’d suggest booking ahead, as they only managed to fit us in because there were just two of us. Would visit again.
