Premier Inn Keswick

The location is great, and the hotel was warm and comfortable, so I’d stay again. The room was great with lovely views, but it wasn’t ready when we arrived at 2:45. We gave our names and waited 20 minutes, then a big check-in queue formed. If we hadn’t complained, we’d have ended up at the back of it. Breakfast was okay, and the coffee was nice, with plenty of continental choices. But after 9:30 the food was drying out and the eggs were rubbery. I had to wait to order a veggie option, and got sausage on the first day, then sausage and bacon on the second. There were two different chefs. Drew stepped in at the last minute for another chef who was unwell. Service took a while, and on day two they’d run out of eggs and beans, so we waited another six minutes for those and 15 for my veggie breakfast. Be prepared to wait.

The room was brilliant and very comfortable, and the air con was remarkably quiet. The staff and service were lovely too. My only gripe was Horizon parking’s £12 nightly charge, with no guaranteed space. In my opinion, that’s not Premier Inn’s fault.

Graham gave us such a lovely welcome when we arrived tired and stressed after an awful journey. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the town is only a five-minute walk away. Brilliant location and a great stay.

The building, room and view were lovely, and the room price seemed fair. Still, breakfast let down what should have been a good stay at a Premier Inn in a prime spot. Half the full English arrived cold, and I had to ask for a food refund, then go back again to check it had been processed. Other guests were complaining too. The fire alarm also woke us in the morning, though that may just have been bad luck. Parking in the cramped car park cost another £12 a night, which felt a lot. We paid cash for breakfast the night before and had to show ID under what staff called an anti-money-laundering company policy. In the morning there was no record of payment, but luckily we’d kept the receipt. Staff seemed okay and did try, though the place felt understaffed and made simple things complicated. I’d probably return if breakfast were brought up to the standard of other Premier Inns. Otherwise, I’d eat elsewhere in Keswick.
