The cabin's setting is beautiful, about a 15-minute drive outside Oban. It was cosy and easy to keep warm without lighting the fire. There are books, games, and dvds for rainy or lazy days, but I mostly loved listening to the birds and rain on the rooftops. A hot tub was set up for us and maintained throughout our stay. The open-plan Log Cabin has a separate shower and toilet, and came with towels, bedding, all the kitchen utensils for cooking and eating, and cleaning products. We only needed clothes and toiletries. Access is tricky: we parked at the top of the sloped entrance, then took a log step to the side towards the cabin. From there, it's a step up onto the veranda, and the approach has small, loose slate and flint stones with no wheel purchase. I managed the walk with crutches, then brought the wheelchair in separately to use inside. The shower is a small cubicle and the toilet is standard, so bring your travel aids for those. With a bit of outside thinking and a desire to go places, many places can be made accessible, and there are lots of accessible travel products available now. Occupational therapists can help find information for specific needs. Scotland had a midge boom this year during our late May 2025 holiday. I always bring lavender and citronella oil, and the owners also provided repellent bands and bite cream for anyone who needed them. Citronella was the scent of Scotland wherever we went!

We love it here and have been twice. It's so peaceful, with lots of wildlife right on the front porch. Gordon keeps everything in order and is happy to sort out anything you need. Last year the duck in the pond was a tiny duckling, and this year it's grown so big. It even comes over to see me when I come out for my coffee first thing. Waking up to the birds singing their hearts out every morning is heaven.
