Mariners House

The house is spacious, the beds were clean and comfy, and there’s ample driveway parking for two cars. We had two dogs, one large and one small, and the fact that pets are allowed, along with the price and location, means we’d definitely stay again. There’s also a large garden with a lovely terrace that would be ideal in summer, though we didn’t use it in December. A few things needed attention. The kitchen bin hadn’t been emptied, the sofa beds weren’t made up even though we’d booked for seven people, and the carpet in one upstairs bedroom was quite stained and off putting. It was cold when we arrived, and turning up the thermostat as instructed in the welcome pack didn’t bring on the heating or hot water. The boiler showed an error about bleeding the radiators and low water pressure. We contacted the host, who called back after about 20 minutes and said she’d send her handyman. He arrived around 10 minutes later and fixed it. The host had been hard to reach because she was at the theatre, but she was extremely apologetic and got the heating sorted as soon as possible. We’d booked Mariners house over the New Year period to visit family nearby. It’s listed for seven and there were six of us. The Airbnb email said the host would meet us at the property, with check-in from 1600 to midnight. We arrived at 1545 and waited until 1600. At 1605 we called, but got no answer, then received a text saying, “we can’t talk right now.” We texted to say we were waiting to check in, and the key safe code came through by text.
