After hiking up and down Ben Nevis, we were grateful for the flexible check-in, even around 10-11pm. The instructions were simple, and the staff were incredibly responsive and helpful. Showers and kitchen were perfectly adequate. It's no Ritz, but it's not meant to be, and it's well worth the price. The lodge is about a 30 minute drive from Ben Nevis tourist centre and 20 minutes from Fort Williams, which has a surprisingly lively nightlife. I've never been happier to see a Whetherspoons.

The best part for me was the lounge, with its comfy sofa for relaxing or chatting, and the mountain views from there, the rooms and the kitchen. The lodge is in a beautiful spot up the hill. Self check-in was fine, though there was no reception. Cleanliness was my main concern. The living room carpet smelled really bad, and I found lots of hair in my sheets. The frames, mattresses, duvets and pillows were very old and could do with deep cleaning or replacing. The pillows were very flat, and I'd have liked two instead of one because I'm not used to sleeping so low. The dry room didn't work, probably because the heater was broken and only blew cold air. We tried it when we arrived and again before bed. Heating in the room was minimal and went off completely at night 😔 Luckily we were alone in the room, so I could take a spare duvet from the top bunk. There was nobody to ask for extra linen, and no blankets available either. I understand it's a seasonal business and the owners need to make enough in six months to live for the rest of the year, but I still think the place is overpriced for what it offers. The facilities and standard don't justify the high price.

A nice, simple hostel along the WHW, with good shared spaces and a big drying room. The rooms are basic, and there aren't many toilets. Ideal if simple is what you're after.

Eight of us in my family wanted a cheap few days away in the Highlands, and we all found this hostel lovely. It's been years since I stayed in a hostel. The rooms were absolutely fine, with four people to a room in two sets of bunk beds. One side has fabulous views, and the kitchen, lounge and showers were clean. Great views!

Everything you need is here, and shops and pubs are just a couple of meters away. The accommodation was great and really cozy. Wonderful!
